Ruth Wilson (born January 13, 1982) is an English actress best known for playing the title character in the 2006 BBC miniseries Jane Eyre.

Wilson is from Middlesex in London, England. As a teenager she worked as a model, and went on to study at the University of Nottingham. She trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, graduating in July 2005. Prior to Jane Eyre Wilson had only one professional credit - the sitcom Suburban Shootout. Since getting the part, Wilson has said that she is "going to better auditions." "People are starting to see me when they wouldn't have done before - suddenly you have done a big show and you have got a bit more standing."[1]
She recently finished filming on the second series of Suburban Shootout[1], a new Marple mystery for ITV (Nemesis)and a Stephen Poliakoff's BBC televison drama Capturing Mary. She will appear in Gorky's Philistines, playing Tanya, at the National from May 2007.
