[edit] Discussion
Should the page really say "Sheckler also promotes the Etnies, Oakley, Sobe, Volcom, Kicker Audio, CCS Magazine, Silver Trucks, and Amp'd Mobile brands as a skateboarder" since he is sponsored by them. Almost is his core sponsor but Etnies, Volcom, Oakley etc. are also "sponsors", not just a bunch of brands he likes to buy merchandise from and talk about.

- I reworded it. --Liface 00:57, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Mrs Sheckler 19:31, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Should an encyclopedia have this section at all? I don't think so. If it should, it should also include former sponsors etc. Please argue why it should not be removed. 213.243.180.4 18:50, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm really not sure... there's not much information about skateboarders out there. Sponsors are about the only thing we really have to go by. --Liface 21:20, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] his parents
Do their names really need to be included in the article? TripleH1976 12:00 a.m., 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe when the "early life" section is expanded we can take them out. --Liface 15:16, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] American Skateboarder, motocross rider etc.
"Ryan Allen Sheckler (born December 30, 1989) is an American skateboarder, Motocross rider, surfer, and snowboarder"
That line doesn't sound right. He is professionally a skateboarder. Riding MX, surfing and snowboarding would probably be considered hobbies. Shouldn't it be in another section of the article instead of the first sentence?
Mrs Sheckler 19:06, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, reword that. --Liface 20:34, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

- I did the best I could. Its still in the first part but I couldn't find another place for the info. . Mrs Sheckler 20:03, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

- I would suggest leaving it as "an American professional skateboarder". The motor cross rider, surfer, and snowboarder info should be further down. TripleH1976 13:39 p.m., 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Wait... isn't he sponsored in motocross making him a professional MXer? --Liface 23:07, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sponsored doesnt mean pro, it just means someone pays him to ride I guess... I know that sounds like it makes him a pro but I mean tons of AM skaters, mx riders, snowboarders have sponsors. Mrs Sheckler 21:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- PS, solved the problem with a Trivia section :) Mrs Sheckler 21:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Needs sources though. --Liface 01:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- How do I cite sources? I mean I know them: For the burns, I guess the source would be his website (he had a pretty long entry about it but then he took it off...); the Volcom Jeans would be the Volcom website; Etnies signature shoes would be Etnies and the hobbies..? I guess I'll try to find a source. Mrs Sheckler 17:07, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Wait, nervermind. I think I know how to cite sources. You put the < ref > and then the link inside it. Mrs Sheckler 17:13, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Early Life
Here it says he was born in Long Beach, CA but according to his interview, he's from Diamond Bar, CA....? Mrs Sheckler 16:28, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Religion
I read that he's Jewish, or at least has a Jewish mother. Should he be included in a list of Jewish Americans, or Jeiwsh Athletes.
- Where did you read that? If we have a reliable source, he can certainly be included in the category/list Mad Jack 01:05, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- http://www.equityedu.com/Roun-to-Sasq/Ryan_Sheckler.php Read it there, don't know where they got that info from, also read that he went to catholic school so..
[edit] New Sheckler Page
I'm doing my own. Sorry, don't mean to compete. --> Ryan Sheckler (skateboarder) -- Plan B Skater 03:12, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- The article namespace doesn't really encourage two articles on the exact same person or subject. I encourage you to edit this article instead, since it is well established. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 16:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
