Reason given for the deletion request is: It is doubtful that this image can be classed as public domain. Floor mosaics are usually photographed from perspective and therefore 3-dimensional works of art. The detail may have the illusion of a 2D image but this is not necessarily the case. The image also appears to be a colour-reconstruction, as the vibrant colours are not typical of timeworn ancient mosaic. This would define the photo as original work and therefore definitely not PD. Its difficult to claim this as a "generic" image under the "Corelcorp" ruling. As per the "Tang Electronic Corp" ruling anything more than "slavish copying" is not PD. So to err on the safe side, unless someone can demonstrate otherwise, this image and others of the sort should be regarded as copyrighted and removed from wiki. |

Image provenant du site http://www.theoi.com/Gallery/Z34.3A.html Un dieu des mers, probablement Phorcys, porte une Néréide ou son épouse Céto à travers la mer. Le dieu dépeint comme un triton à la peau rouge, à queue de poisson et portant des "pattes" et des antennes de homard. Son buste est ceint d'oursins. Il tient dans une main une boîte (de sel ?) et un dans l'autre une torche enflammée , et est couronné d'algues (?). La queue de poisson devant lui, appartient au dieu Triton. Sur son dos se trouve une déesse, peut-être l'un des Néreides ou son épouse Céto, une déesse des mers.
