Sacramento City Council

The Sacramento City Council [1]is the governing body of the city of Sacramento, California. It is comprised of eight members. City Councilmembers make a salary of $50,000 per year. The Mayor of Sacramento is Heather Fargo.

[edit] Past Councilmembers
Past councilmembers in Sacramento include the late congressman Robert Matsui who served in office from 1979 until his death in January 2005. Current State Senator Darrell Steinberg served on the council until his election to the State Assembly in 1998. Former State Senator Deborah Ortiz, who was a candidate for Secretary of State in 2006 also served on the city council in the 1990's. Current state assemblyman Dave Jones served on the council prior to his election to his assembly seat.
