At the moment this is not an article about Sai, it's a retelling of the current arc in the manga. Many other Naruto articles are written this way too, unfortunately. Please revise -- this is an article about a character, not the narrative. --Lionelster 03:31, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well, its a synopsis of the sections of manga which Sai has taken a part of. What else would we put in his article? Maybe if it were separated a bit better, the page would look better. --GhostStalker 05:14, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

- Well, he honestly finds women unattractive, from what I've seen in the mangas myself.. It could just be the training he had as a child to detach himself from others. Then again, it could be possible that he is homosexual.. It's unusual, but he wouldn't be the first homosexual character in a manga or anime.--Vercalos 09:18, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

His constant references to dicks is just like dudes refer to it in real life: Insulting someone by telling them it's small or not special. 3. The way he sees women is a result of not knowing how people normally react to what. His vision of reaction is this: call Sakura a hag and she'll do absolutey nothing and take it. He doesn't know this yet, 'cause no one's told him, or they just think he has the common sense to avoid these things. 4. Would it be safe to state in the trivia section of this article that Sai desplays tendencies similar to those of someone with Asperger's syndrome? For instance, his inability to outwardly express emotion and his habit of speaking rudely toward those around him without being aware that his comments are seen as socially inappropriate. Would listing this be regarded as speculation or not, as several fictional characters from other series appear to have psychological disorders that are inferred but never directly adressed, and yet it is listed on their page that thier behaviors infer a disorder.--66.24.229.7 17:27, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

- Sai does show characteristics of Asperger syndrome, being as I have the syndrome too. It is not something that can be learned that easliy. - Note however, that the initial post states that Sai has traits similar to asperger's syndrome, not that he actually has the disorder itself. It's a learned behavior. It may be hard for a ten year old to learn the traits, but it would be much easier to learn it at three. Take Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic. He has trouble with social skills, because he was raised from toddler to adult as a mercenary. NinjaPirates!!!
[edit] Is the Rank Root or ANBU
Ok, I changed the rake from ANBU to Root, and then someone changed it back to ANBU. I get why it was done (Roots isn't a Rank), but I don't think that Sai is in ANBU. I know Root used to be part of ANBU, and Sai is inside Root, but since Root was disbanded, that doesn't necessarily mean Sai is in ANBU. Also, now that Root doesn't officially exist, Sai would have to report to the Hokage if he was an official member of ANBU. And we know he doesn't do that, so he can't be a official ANBU member. And since ANBU is not listed as an Official rank, but as an organization, like Root, I believe Sai should be called Root or unknown. I've read the whole manga (yes, I know that's original research, but I can just come of with some things to site later) so unless I missed some external source, I believe that it was never told directly to you. This article doesn't site it's sources (hint hint) so unless there was something info book on Sai that I missed, I think that this is more or less up for discussion. [edit] WHY do people use present tense AND past tense?!
The whole point of my editing everything into past tense was to remove sentences where people MIXED past and present tense! Yet, some bozo edited the present tense back in and now there's STILL tons of places where both tenses are used! --FallenAngelII

- Much of Japanese folklores either come from China or based off of Chinese folklores. Take a look into Journey to the West as an example. Early Chinese migrated to Japan and took their culture with them. This is rather unfamiliar for Japanophiles, but what can you say about them? They are so blinded by their love for Japan that they took all Japanese culture to be original and unique.

- OK. I, personally, am willing to admit there is a possible(even probable) connection between Chinse Folkore and Sai, and the original Dragonball was heavily based on Journey to the West, if not by admission, then by similarities between a great many characters.. But unfortunately, unless the author of Naruto himself comes forward and admits that he based some of his material on Chinese folklore, All they can be is theories, and generally, theories don't belong on Wikipedia(Unless it's notable in and of itself, like the Theory of Relativity). So please, stop being rude and uncivil. it's not doing anything but irritating people. Now then, what was that about Kishimoto not involving Chinese folklore? Actually, Kishimoto isn't the least bit original... Naruto's signature move is cloning. Yeah, we've NEVER seen a ninja do that before (sarcasm), the bijuu monsters are inspired by east-asian folklore (in Korean lore, the Kitsune, or "Kumiho", is purely depicted as a manevolent creature), and Orochimaru, Jiraya, and Tsunade are, over-obviously, inspired by "Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari". Why is everyone arguing? Why all the smart answers and witty remarks? I mean really, just because someone is asking about Chinese folklore, doesnt mean he is a Sinophile. Because whoever said that would be a "Japanophile" for sitting here arguing about Japanese manga chracters. So whoever that was needs to stop with the names. I mean, do you realize you are sitting here arguing about a manga chracter? This is supposed to be a place where you discuss ideas for the article, not throw around your well written sarcastic little comments that are irrelevant to the topic. C'mon, its kind of annoying.

[edit] Origin of Sai's Name
Do you think that it should be noted that his name probably originates from that of Kirigakure Saizō, the legendary ninja who was supposedly the arch-rival of Sarutobi Sasuke? We have made notes about the name origin for Sasuke and Sandaime Hokage (I haven't checked Asuma and Konohamaru), and it seems very liely that this is the origin of Sai's name, given his relationship to Sasuke and his service of Danzo, the (sort of) arch-rival of Sandaime. --Lore_aura
