Saltpeter

The term saltpeter or saltpetre may refer to:
- Referring to the chemical potassium nitrate (niter/nitre); and/or sodium nitrate (nitratine/soda niter);
- The stellar astronomer Edwin Ernest Salpeter, who proposed the triple-alpha process for burning helium, and an initial mass function for stellar populations.
- Salpeter War (1879-1884) between Chile, Peru and Bolivia.
