San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, near the Spanish capital of Madrid. Its population in 2002 was 13,162.
Situated northwest of the capital, it is the site of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. It is also the home of popular summer courses of the Universidad Complutense.
The adjacent municipality of El Escorial contains the RENFE commuter train station connecting the area to Madrid.
