Santa Clara High School is a comprehensive, co-educational, public high school located in Santa Clara, California, United States. It is one of four secondary schools in the Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD).
[edit] History
The school was established in 1872, and was originally located in the suburban Santa Clara near the border of Sunnyvale, California. Santa Clara High's current location was originally that of Buchser High School. Due to declining enrollment, the Santa Clara School District decided to transform two of its high schools into middle schools. Santa Clara High was moved to the original campus of Buchser, and Buchser was moved to Santa Clara High's previous campus and became Buchser Middle School (the two schools exchanged location).
In 1988 and 2001 Santa Clara High School was selected as a California Distinguished School.
During the 1970s the school was well known for being a competitive swimming powerhouse, with close ties to the Santa Clara Swim Club, which practices and hosts an international swim meet down the road in downtown Santa Clara.
