[edit] Program Character
Students work in close collaboration with faculty members who are active, successful writers. The program focuses on the art and craft of writing, rather than on the study of literature, with the active element of the program being the workshop. In workshops, students perfect their own writing and critique the work of their fellow students. One workshop is taken each semester during the four semesters of cumulative study, and most students study with a different writer each semester. The approach encourages students to explore an array of distinctive perspectives and techniques that will extend their own writing ability.
