Petroica multicolor (Gmelin, 1789) |
The Scarlet Robin, is a common red-breasted Australasian robin in the passerine bird genus Petroica. The species is found throughout most of continental Australia and its offshore islands (including Tasmania). Together with the other two red-breasted Petroica species (the Flame Robin and the Red-capped Robin), it is often indiscriminately called the [Australian] Robin Redbreast because of its vaguely similar appearance to the European Robin.
