School of Rock is the original soundtrack album of the film of the same title starring Jack Black whose character, Dewey Finn, is an old Rock N Roll guitarist, and so he decides to form a Rock Band with some kids from a prep school where he is meant to be teaching. It was released on September 30, 2003.
The film's director Richard Linklater scouted the country for talented 13-year-old musicians to play the rock-and-roll music that features on the soundtrack and in the film.
The soundtrack was nominated for the Grammy Awards of 2004 for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
