Schoolloop
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Schoolloop is a website intended to help schools communicate with their students via the internet founded by Mark Gross, a 9th grade teacher. Only Middle schools and High schools are included in the website.
Schools and teachers can post homework for students, school announcements, and downloads. Teachers can have a website inside schoolloop, where they can post class-specific information. Students can use Schoolloop to look up their homework, grades and e-mail their teachers. Homework is shown at the top of the page and is the first thing students see. The system also provides a calendar system for assignment due-dates and exam schedules. Students can also store files in a digital locker for later use. Groups can also be formed by a students with the permission of a teacher or a staff member. Parents can sign up to schoolloop to keep track of their child's progress. Parents can check their child's homework, assignments and grades.
The Schoolloop system is called "Loopmail". Users can send e-mail only to other Schoolloop users. Students signed up to Schoolloop will receive an email daily which shows the student's current grades and homework. If a user Loopmails another user, the Loopmail is sent to both the Loopmail inbox and the recipient's regular e-mail inbox. The Loopmail system contains an anti-profanity filter, though this can still be bypassed by using internet slang.
