Scorcher is the name of a Marvel Comics supervillain.
[edit] History
Steven Hudak was a research chemist who fell into the kind of trouble that he can't get out of. He was wrongfully accused for the embezzlement in his company and his world began to crumble. He swore revenge by creating an armored suit with flame-throwing equipment to attack his former company as the Scorcher. He ran afoul of Spider-Man in one of his first outings and Scorcher was defeated.
It is later revealed that Scorcher was working for Norman Osborne (who would later become the Green Goblin). He escaped jail to pursue an arsonist crime where Spider-Man stopped him once more. When he was attacking people with Christmas gifts, he was stopped by Ben Reilly (whom was posing as Spider-Man at the time).
The second Crimson Cowl recruited Scorcher to join her incarnation of the Masters of Evil.
When Matt Murdock's identity as the Daredevil was revealed, he and Daimondback II hoped to confront Matt Murdock, but were scared off by Daredevil and Spider-Man.
In the Secret War storyline, he was immediately forced by Lucia von Bardas to band together with other supervillains to attack S.H.I.E.L.D. and a dozen of New York's superheroes. He was defeated by Daredevil again. It was all a plot to assemble all the superheroes in one place as Lucia and the assembled villains were linked to a bomb. S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Daisy Johnson killed Lucia, defused the bomb, and all the villains were apprehended.
Steven promises his ex-wife Kali that he will give up his criminal life soon.
