Selby College is located on the outskirts of Selby, and has a wide catchment area mainly in North Yorkshire, but also stretching into the East Riding of Yorkshire. Selby College is a Associate College of the University of Hull, and has recently been undergoing a comprehensive 3 phase redevelopment plan, which has involved construction of new buildings to supplement facilities. With 2 out of the 3 buildings completed, this is well underway.

June 2006 saw the opening of the new £2.5 million Renaissance Building, a brand new building designed to house the Art, Fashion and Design and the Health and Social Care Departments of Selby College.
September 2004 led to the final completion and opening of the £4 million Academy building to house a new library (The LRC), as well as extensive IT facilities, and the majority of the colleges' A-Level classes.
Selby College has continued to develop the range of courses on offer and introduced in 2006/07 Construction Apprenticeship Programmes. Other new course include Higher Education Foundation Degrees, Religious Education and Performing Arts. In 2007 the college will provide a new Forensic Science course.

Selby College provides vocational courses for 14 to 16 year olds still in school. These courses include GCSE and NVQ's in Engineering, Construction, Administration, Health and Social Care, and Hairdressing. The college also provides a wide range of A Level and vocational courses.
Selby is planning to provide both Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees from 2007.

Selby College has some of the best examination results in the country, with an overall A Level pass rate in 2006 of 98% compared with a national 96% achievement rate.[citation needed] Students gained 100% in 16 out of 22 subjects. Likewise, vocational programmes offered at the college are higher than national achievement rates with a 95% overall achievement rate.[citation needed]
