Talk:Selwyn College, Otago
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As on the Knox college page, I have changed the references to Selwyn being a 'true' Oxford college. It is certainly not. The key to being an Oxbridge college is that virtually all your education happens within the college; this isn't true at Selwyn. Selwyn does have tutorials, but these are more likely to be group study sessions with an undergrad tutor, far removed from Oxford ones, which are weekly one-on-one or two-on-one sessions with a university professor or other advanced academic. Also, the article implied Knox and Selwyn were unique in having tutorials -- in fact, all the halls do. Selwyn certainly aspires to have an Oxbridge 'feel' to it, but it is not actually run like an Oxbridge college.
