Seppo Evwaraye (born June 1, 1982 in Vaasa, Finland) is a Finnish National Football League offensive guard signed by Carolina Panthers as a free agent in 2006.
Evwaraye started football in his homecity Vaasa, Finland. During his year as an exchange student in Nebraska, Evwaraye received an offer to play for University of Nebraska. He redshirted as a freshman. Evwaraye played as defensive tackle during his freshman and sophomore year, but turned to right tackle as a junior. Was not drafted, but got a free agent contract from Panthers.
Known for his great speed and acceleration. His 40 yard dash times are below 5 seconds, which are concidered great for offensive line players. His 40 yard times are amongst the very best (for his position) in Nebraska school history.
Seppo didn't receive his work permit in time, and therefore he will not join Panthers for 2006-07 season. Because he received old application forms for his work permit from his university, he was two days late from team deadline, and five dollars short of the up to date fee.
Has two football playing brothers, Ari and Efe, who both are Finnish champions and Finnish National Team players. Ari Evwaraye (DL/LB) plays for Turku Trojans and Efe Evwaraye (LB) for Seinäjoki Crocodiles. Efe won his championship playing for Helsinki Roosters in 2004, and Ari with Porvoo Butchers in 2005. The brothers met each other in Finnish championship game in 2005.
Seppo is heading towards the NFL Europe for 2007 season (Cologne Centurions) as is his brother Efe (Berlin Thunder).
