Serbs of Timişoara

Serbs of Timişoara (Serbian: Temišvar) comprise 1,500 of the population in the capital and form an ethnic minority in Romania, according to the 2002 census there were 22,518 Serbs in Romania.
There is a well known Serbian restaurant named "Karadjordje Restaurant Sârbesc" in the centre of Timisoara.

In the beginning of the 18th century, the population of Timişoara, the main city of Romanian Banat, numbered 600-700 inhabitants, of which 446 were Serbs, 144 Jews, and 35 Armenians.
