Administrator?
I have a great desire to become an administrator on Wikipedia.
Of course, I'm realistic about it - I am certainly in no position to become one at the time I am writing this. I only have just over 2000 edits, and from past experience (perusing RFAs) I have noticed that practically the first thing that everybody looks at in an administrative candidate is their edit count. It's down to the fact that I'm a full time student that I cannot get the necessary amounts of edits in, but however - I do believe that the quality of my edits make a difference to Wikipedia - in a good way.
So why do I want to become an administrator? It is certainly not for the reason that I suspect the majority of people want it for - to become an administrator for the possession of power, instead of the use of the power to do some good. I want the extra facilities and permissions that come with an administrator to do some good.
First and foremost, I would like to be able to have the mop and bucket for intervention against vandalism. I am totally, absolutely 100% against the vandalism of this magnificent project, and I aspire to do everything in my power to stop it and stop it quickly. I do not, however, act as if I am infuriated against the vandalist - I always assume good faith and keep a cool head, and leave them a note on their talk page.
Secondly, I would love to help out with the clogged up backlog of the candidates for speedy deletion. As I peruse the page now, I see 86 articles up for speedy deletion. This is far too many for one person to cope with - I'd love to help out. Thirdly, I'd definitely attend to the 3RR violations page, as it can get backlogged too. Other things that would be nice include the ability to revert quickly, and the enforcement of the rulings of the Arbitration Committee.
Now, please note that this is not a plea for administratorship. I understand that I will not be able to get it now with my current edit count. However, I am aspiring towards my goal of raising it, always using an edit summary (something I've been doing consistently over the past few weeks) and keeping a generally friendly air, cool head, always assuming good faith and not biting the newbies!
