Seydlitz

Seydlitz is the name of a family of Prussian and Polish nobility. It can refer to the following persons.
- Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz (1721-1773), Prussian general of the cavalry
- Walther von Seydlitz-Kurzbach (August 22, 1888 in Hamburg, Germany - April 28, 1976 in Bremen). Became a POW when he had the rank of general of artillerie during the battle of Stalingrad. When he was a POW he became the leader of the anti-Nazi organization League German Officers (German: "Bund deutscher Offiziere") and prominent member of the National Committee Free Germany (German: "Nationalkomitee Freies Deutschland")
- Józef Seydlitz, an 18th and 19th century commander
Some ships were named after the family
- The SMS Seydlitz was a 25,000 ton battlecruiser of the Imperial German Navy, built at Hamburg, Germany, commissioned in May 1913 and scuttled in 1919.
- Another Seydlitz (a heavy cruiser) was launched but never completed during World War II.
