[edit] Background
Shaak Ti was a close friend of each member of the Jedi Council, Luminara Unduli, Aayla Secura, and Cin Drallig. She was one of the greatest duelists, and most powerful members of the order. Shaak Ti stood out to be one of the most cunning warriors during the Clone Wars. Shaak Ti was a very skillful master and she was one of the few Jedi to match the skills of the Sith Lord Count Dooku. She mastered the Makashi form, which determined her serenity, fluency, and elegance in lightsaber combat, and she was of the few to be practitioners of the seven forms of lightsaber combat.
Shaak Ti was once sent on a mission with Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, Kit Fisto, and Bultar Swan to Nar Shaddaa to look for crime lords dealing with separatist forces. Swan was injured by bounty hunters sent out by Count Dooku, but she was rescued by Quinlan. Shaak Ti stood with Kit Fisto and arrested both crime lords and some of the separatists.
Her Jedi sense of detachment allowed her to hide her pain of the deaths of her two padawans, who were murdered by vicious killers just after passing the trials. One of those students was Fe Sun. Although Shaak Ti had no Padawan she was able to teach Obi Wan a few things when he was a student and she also taught some things to other Padawans as Barriss Offee.
Shaak Ti was one of the 200 Jedi sent to Geonosis to fight the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and one of the few survivors. In the battle she could demonstrate her skills by deflecting the blasters although she was a Makashi master. As the war began, Senior General Ti was sent to Brentaal IV, a planet that Separatist leader Shogar Tok was attempting to claim for the Confederacy. While on the planet, Shaak Ti found a prison in which were being held Sagoro Autem, a former Senate guard, Korto Vos, who was once Jedi Quinlan Vos, and Lyshaa, who had killed her Padawan. Shaak Ti insited that she did not seek revenge, but Lyshaa shot her anyway. She survived, however, and killed Lyshaa and Shogar Tok.
Shaak Ti was also present at the battle of Kamino. Along with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, she saved the cloning facility from destruction. Shaak Ti coordinated the surface defence of Kamino with the Prime Minister Lama Su when they approved the activation of the elite ARC Troopers during the assault.
It seemed that Master Ti, and a large group of clones were captured and imprisoned on the swampy planet of Dagu, which was under the control of one of Count Dooku's Dark Jedi, Artel Darc. Darc was unaware of Shaak Ti's presence until too late. Master Ti ended up leading a revolt against the Confederacy, and went to deal with Artel Darc. Shaak Ti and Darc fought, but Master Ti emerged the victor. Whatever happened on Dagu, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine congratulated Shaak Ti for her efforts and awarded her a medal, proving Shaak Ti's worth as a Jedi Master of the Jedi Council.
Later she was sent to lead a mission with Ki Adi Mundi on Hypori, and Shaak Ti was one of the first to encounter droid leader General Grievous. She, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Aayla Secura, and K'Kruhk were the only survivors, the elite ARC troopers arriving in the nick of time to rescue them.
During the end of the clone wars Shaak Ti was tasked to to protect the planet, Ord Ibanna from the droid armies. She commanded several troops to battle where she had the opportunity to encounter Durge sent by Count Dooku to kill Ti. Shaak engaged Durge during the battle and after defeating him, she faced on a duel blade to blade, Dooku that after a long fight escaped, distracting Ti with the Magnaguards. After the mission, Shaak Ti returned to Coruscant.
Shaak Ti and Mace Windu were investigating in The Works. That investigation lead them to 500 Republica, but when they were so close to solving the mystery of the second Sith Lord, General Grievous led an attack against the capitol. Shaak Ti found Stass Allie and they went to defend the Chancellor, and ended up taking him into custody during their attempt to get him out of his apartment. Shaak Ti and Stass Allie marched the Chancellor and his aides into a hovertrain, where they found Mace Windu and Kit Fisto. But Mace and Kit, after a short duel with Grievous, led a search for him after he escaped.
When they arrived at the bunker shelter, Palpatine requested that Shaak Ti and Stass Allie join the battle to defend Coruscant. B'ink Utrila, Roron Corobb, Foul Moudama, and Roth-Del Masona were assigned by the Chancellor himself to defend Palpatine and his aides in the bunker. The four Jedi were defeated, and Shaak Ti felt she failed when the Chancellor was captured.
[edit] Death
Mace Windu requested that Ti fight alongside him against Palpatine, but she refused because she needed to meditate on premonitions and a disturbance in the force felt caused by Palpatine's rescue. When Anakin entered the Jedi temple with his troops he entered the room where Shaak Ti was meditating, where she asked him what happened in the Chancelor's office. He responded with his lightsaber, and in the ensuing duel she escaped, leaving Vader. She was able to survive the Great Jedi Purge. Some time later she joined the Rebels, but after Darth Vader knew she had survived he sent an apprentice to kill her.
There are two versions of Shaak Ti's death, both prepared and filmed - but not released - for Revenge of the Sith. In the first version, Anakin and Obi-Wan found her being held by Grievous in one of corridors in his command ship during the battle over Coruscant. Grievous killed Ti in front of the two Jedi. In the second, she is in charge of protecting the Jedi Temple but Shaak Ti is killed by Skywalker while meditating when he and the Clone troopers purge the Jedi Temple. Since she was left behind by Grievous in the Clone Wars TV series, the second version is the more likely. The first version was to be seen as something that may have happened to Shaak Ti.
In Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, Shaak Ti is shown being decapitated by Darth Vader in the Jedi Temple.
However, recent details and comments by a Lucasfilm spokesperson lead some to believe that Shaak Ti may not be dead, as it has been said that "her death was taken out of the film completely for a reason."[citation needed] What ultimately became of Shaak Ti is left to be known; however, it has been reported that Shaak Ti will appear as the main antagonist in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and will be the primary enemy of a Sith under Darth Vader's command[1].
[edit] Video games
Shaak Ti appears as an unlockable character in Lego Star Wars: The Video Game and the PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront II in Ord Ibanna map.
Shaak Ti is to appear in the up-coming game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, along with several rancor under her control. Players will assume control of Darth Vader's apprentice, with Shaak Ti on the player's hit list.
