Between recording their previous album Happy Trails and this, Quicksilver parted ways with guitarist Gary Duncan. As a replacement, Nicky Hopkins, the English journeyman pianist who appears on albums by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Steve Miller joined the group. This album is somewhat dominated by him, though this is very much the Quicksilver of early days just with extra piano. The best parts of this album are easily the equal of anything from Happy Trails, but there are several places where the album stumbles and falls into dull ballads.
Hopkins re-recorded the album closer "Edward" for his solo album The Tin Man Was a Dreamer, featuring members of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Joseph's Coat, co-written by Cippolina and Nick Gravenites, also appears on Big Brother and the Holding Company's album Be a Brother, which featured Gravenites on vocals.
