Sharyanavat (literally "reedy") is the Vedic Sanskrit term for a pond, also used figuratively to refer to a Soma vessel in the Rigveda (1.84.14; 8.6.39; 8.7.29; 8.64.11; 9.65.22; 9.113.1; 10.35.2). According to Sayana's 14th centrury commentary, it was the name of a lake in Kurukshetra in particular.
