Shawn Rosvold, also called Shawnie, Daddio or Snoop Shawnie Shawn (b. September 29, 1951) was born in the sleepy prairie town of Medicine Hat, Alberta. His father was in radio and television, resulting in many moves, staying one step ahead of the bill collectors.
Shawn hated school, and dropped out as soon as he could, and left home. He hitchhiked across Canada in 1969 until winter arrived, when he wanted to move back home with his parents. Under the kind words of advice from his father ("Get a god damned job and cut that god damned hair.") The alternative was sleeping in a snowdrift, so after getting a haircut, he got a job with a construction company. For Shawn, working in construction in a Calgary winter wasn't much better than sleeping in a snowdrift, except that he got paid. He quit, got a job working in a coffin factory, got fired, got a job working in a camera store, got fired, and got a job working in a car wash where he quit after one day of operating the steam hose.
A friend of Shawn's father was the program director of a fledgling little FM station in Lethbridge, Alberta. He asked Shawn if he would like to try working in radio. Shawn was hired, and later fired for early morning visits from female fans.
A few years later, Shawn and his now ex-wife Margaret had three blonde daughters. Shawn and Margaret called it quits in 1991, and Shawn moved to a small apartment in downtown Kentville, Nova Scotia, later moving to Penticton, British Columbia to live with a friend. One day Shawn got a call to join an old friend as sidekick/newsguy/producer on a morning show in San Francisco.
Shawn met his soon to be second wife, Laurie, in San Francisco, through the radio station. The show was having a phone-in contest, and the winner got a date with Monkey Boy. Shawn had to tag along, and the lucky winner of the contest was Laurie. Later, Shawn got transferred to New York. Soon, his co-host got fired, and he followed suit later that year. After several months of unemployment and a sad job at a local Radio Shack, Shawn got a call from Art Sears, asking if he'd be interested in working with Jay Thomas at Sirius Satellite Radio.
Currently, Shawn is exceedingly happy with the show, he and his wife are proud owners of a former crack house in Brooklyn, his daughters are healthy, and he's in love with his other two hairy daughters, Rosie and Uma.
