Tarzoon, la honte de la jungle (Tarzoon: Shame of the Jungle) is an adult-oriented French/Belgian animated film directed by cartoonist Picha and Boris Szulzinger. The raunchy feature was originally released in 1975.
When it was released in the U.S. in 1979, the film was significantly recut, and new dialogue was dubbed in performed by American actors and comedians such as John Belushi(Belushi is featured portraying his National Lampoon character of the Teenage Perfect Master), Pat Bright, Adolph Caesar, Brian Doyle-Murray, Andrew Duncan, Judy Graubart, Deya Kent, Bill Murray, Guy Sorel, and Johnny Weissmuller Jr. in order to avoid receiving an X rating. The recut version was rated R.
The American posters noted the previous successful animated films for adults, Fritz the Cat and Heavy Traffic, which were directed by Ralph Bakshi, and were both rated X (Traffic was also recut and rereleased with an R rating).
The film has been pirated, and is available in trading circles in both the dubbed edited and dubbed unedited versions.
