As far as I know, all official portraits, i.e. released as such by the ministry of information, of all heads of government and/or state of Bangladesh are public domain properties, i.e. absolutely no copyright is attached to them, provided that they are used with reverence and not to defame the subjects of the portraits. I am trying to find the exact clauses of the law. If anyone knows better, please, advice. If anyone knows the law, please, inform. - Aditya Kabir 03:32, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, that's not correct. Please look into Bangladesh Copyright Act of 2000. According to it:
-
- Where the Government or a public undertaking is the first owner of copyright, the term of copyright is sixty years from the beginning of the calendar year next following the year in which the work is first published.
- So, even if the image is official, it still is under copyright for 60 years. Thanks. --Ragib 03:36, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
