Talk:Shear stress

Shouldn't this be connected to faults and earthquakes? Wetman 20:35, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
what is Q? Richard Giuly 02:43, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Q should be the static momentum

- What static momentum? The whole equation seems plain wrong. In the area of engineering I deal with, shear stress is equal to shear force over shear area. Any reference to the bending inertia, 'I', is only relevant to longitudinal shear, not transverse shear. -- Kvetner 13:26, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
the equation there is for sheer stress in a plane if that's any help
