Shining Force CD is an RPG of Mega/Sega CD. Designed by Sega, the game is divided in two Books, that can be played sequentially or disconnectedly.
It is part of the Shining Force series that was originally created by Hiroyuki Takahashi and Yasuhiro Taguchi. The two books in this game are remakes of the Shining Force Gaiden series (released on Sega Game Gear). A compilation of the first 2 Game Gear Shining Forces (Shining Force Gaiden and Shining Force Gaiden 2: Sword of Hajya), with improved graphics and sound.
The game's story takes place about 20 years after Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention, of Sega Genesis. In the first Book, the player controls the young prince Nick, the leader of Guardiana Shining Force. The party must travel to the Kingdom of Cypress and rescue Queen Anri. The initial Force members are the children of the first-chapter members from the first game.
In the second adventure, after rescuing the Queen, Prince Nick and the Cypress Army join forces with Guardiana to avoid Iom's evil plan. The player now assumes the role of swordsman Deanna and must redeem the Sword of Haiyja alongside the great group of heroes.
After finishing both books, a third book can be accessed, although it is necessary to save the games' progresses with a Back-up RAM cart, since the Sega CD's internal memory isn't enough to save both games data.
