Sighthill is a suburb in the west of Edinburgh, Scotland.
It is dominated by four high rise residential tower blocks (Broomview House, Glenalmond Court, Weir Court and Hermiston Court) all of which are due to be demolished in the next few years, also in the area are the towers of Stevenson College, and Napier University's Sighthill Campus (formerly the Edinburgh Business College). There is also a medical centre, a library and a fire station, as well as some small shops.
The area had one of the highest percentages in support during the referendum for the Scottish parliament.[citation needed]
To the west is Bankhead Industrial estate, which contains Burton's biscuit factory, as well as a Royal Mail sorting office and two government buildings called Grayfield House and Saughton House.
Sighthill is bounded on the north-west by South Gyle, to the north by Wester Broom, to the east by Broomhouse and to the south by Wester Hailes and the Calders. It is sometimes considered to be part of Wester Hailes, and Broomhouse is sometimes included with Sighthill.
The Calder road, one of the city's main arteries, runs by Sighthill, and the Edinburgh-Glasgow & Stirling railway line is nearby.
The library in Sighthill provides a great deal of support to the local community and was recently awarded the CILIP Libraries Change Lives Award and the Outstanding Public Service Team of the year award as well as an award from the Scottish Executive for their efforts in reducing anti-social behavior in the area.
Sarah Ewing, Australian champion Dragonboater, grew up in the area.
