Simple Instant Messenger (SIM) is a free software multiprotocol instant messaging application available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. SIM-ICQ was discontinued for a time because its founder Vladimir Shutoff, a Russian programmer, left the project. Some time later a new development group was formed and the project is now reborn with the name SIM-IM: Version 0.9.4.1 of the software was released on October 21, 2006. Besides the stable branch, there is also a testing branch, currently in version 0.9.5, updated almost every day. Sources can be obtained via Subversion.
SIM supports the following protocols:
- Oscar - for ICQ and AIM support
- Jabber
- LiveJournal
- .NET Messenger Service (also known as MSN)
- Yahoo!
