The customary categorization of singers by gender and nationality is:

1. Only singers who have not been subcategorized should be in Category:X singers
2. If gender categorization within that nationality is wanted,
   1. Category:X singers by gender, Category:X male singers and Category:X female singers are created.
   2. Category:X male singers and Category:X female singers are both subcategories of Category:X singers by gender and each, respectively, subcategories of Category:Male singers by nationality and Category:Female singers by nationality.
   3. Category:X singers by gender is a subcategory of Category:X singers.

That sounds right. Category:X singers ("X" being nationality) should be empty in most cases as singer articles should be further subcategorized by gender AND style/genre. --musicpvm 21:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
