Sissetowan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sissetowan--or Sisseton--are a branch of the Isanti (or Santee) division of the Sioux based in northeastern South Dakota near a town named for them. The origin of the name is uncertain. Remarkably, the Sissetowan are situated on their ancestral homeland largley thanks to the political influence of their last chief, Gabriel Renville.
