Sister Mary Bernard, was a fictional character on the ABC television series Desperate Housewives. The character was played by Melinda Page Hamilton.
Sister Mary Bernard, is a blonde Catholic nun who helped in the effort in lobbying for Carlos Solis' release from prison, in Season 2. Gabrielle Solis isn't very fond of the Sister because not only is she pretty, but she blames Gabrielle's excessive materialism for Carlos' problems. Apparently, the Sister grew up on the South Side of Chicago, which makes her a very tough rival for Gabrielle. The Sister and Carlos have most recently been involved with the group's relief effort to Botswana. Initially, the group did not have enough money to afford to send the Sister, but that has apparently changed. Upon the Sister's return from her mission work in Africa, Gabrielle further maneuvered to distance the Sister from Carlos, resulting in a reassignment to a parish in Fairbanks, Alaska.
