[edit] Funeral Mist

[edit] Biography

Black Metal band Funeral Mist formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993. The band in its original form comprised of vocalist and guitarist Typhos (a.k.a. Henrik Ekeroth), guitarist Vintras and drummer Velion. Bass player Arioch was added somewhat later.

Their debut gig came in 1995 and that same year saw the issuing of their first demo entitled Darkness. The bands' line-up also started to change in this year, as drummer Velion was fired and Necromorbus (Tore Stjerna) took his role. The second demo Havoc followed in 1996, the same year that the band also lost guitarist Typhos to the swedish band Dark Funeral. Songs that were written for Arioch’s side project Winds were used on this demo.

In 1997 also Vintras left the band due to personal differences, and Funeral Mist was now down to only a duo consisting of Arioch and Necromorbus. The debut EP Devilry was released in 1998 and was issued in both CD and vinyl format. The vinyl edition was limited to only 300 copies and featured an exclusive track; Hellspell 2. This track was later included on the 2005 Devilry/Havoc compilation album. After this release that same year, guitarist Nachash was added to the band. Their first full-length album Salvation was released in on the Norma Evangelium Diaboli label in 2003.

The band is currently on hold as Arioch, now known as Mortuus, joined the swedish band Marduk for their Plague Angel album in (2004), and Necromorbus is active with his own Necromorbus Studio.

[edit] Ofermod

Ofermod is a black metal band formed in Sweden in 1996. They have so far released two EP's with a full length album in the works. They have influenced bands such as Watain and Funeral Mist.

[edit] Biography

Swedish orthodox death metal band Ofermod was formed as a solo project in 1996 by guitarist Michayah (at this time calling himself Belfagor), at this time also active in the now de-funct band Nefandus. The band has it's roots in black metal, but labels their music orthodox death metal, as they consider the occult aspect more important than the satanistic. [1] In 1997 vocalist Leviathan (at this time calling himself Nebiros) joined the band. The duo entered Necromorbus Studios in January 1998 and recorded a 7" EP entitled "Mystérion Tés Anomias" which was released later that same year in 500 copies through PMP (Pounding Metal Productions). Bass player Mist left the band in 1999.

After this the band went on hold both due to Michayahs wish to get away from the scene and some legal problems. [2] In 2004 the band was re-formed with Shiva (a.k.a. Necromorbus) on drums. The previously recorded EP was remastered and re-released through Norma Evangelium Diaboli in 2005 with two new tracks added and recorded in December 2004. These were recorded with a new line-up, which together with Michayah and Leviathan consisted of guitarist Atum and bass player Tehôm, both previously in the band Dödfödd.

During 2005 the line-up of the band increased with the additional vocalist Moloch. In December that year the band once again entered Necromorbus Studio to start the recording of the full length debut: "Pentagrammaton".

However, due to guitarist Michayah being arrested and sentenced to jail in early march 2006, "Pentagrammaton", which was partly finished in late 2005/early 2006 is delayed and is not planned for release until 2007.

Guitarist Michayah also has his solo project known as Mehûmah.

[edit] Ophthalamia

Ophthalamia was a experimental Swedish doom-/black metal band with notable former vocalists Shadow (aka Jon Nodtveidt of Dissection) and Legion (ex. Marduk).

[edit] Biography

Ophthalamia was a swedish doom metal/black metal band with a strong fantasy-theme started in 1989 by vocalist ALL and guitarist IT, both also active in Abruptum. The band named themselves Ophthalamia after a fantasy-world created by IT. He created and named the geography, the land's creatures and a language for Ophthalamians. The Goddess of this world is a demon woman called Elishia. Almost all songs written by the band are connected in some way to this fantasy-world. Their last album though, features lyrics inspired by MacBeth.

Their style is a blend of doom/black metal, bringing together elements from both genres. Apart from their music, they are also notable for the members' various connections to other bands.

The vocals were initially handled by ALL, but he was replaced by Shadow on "A Journey In Darkness". Shadow in his turn was replaced by Legion for the "Via Dolorosa" album. Legion left the band for the infamous Marduk in 1995 and was replaced by ALL again. Winter played drums on the first two albums, but left right after "Via Dolorosa" was recorded. He was replaced by Bone. Guitarist Mourning was replaced by former bassist Night, who picked up the guitars for the "Via Dolorosa" album and is now the second guitarist. Mist replaced him on bass. Axa (Alexandra Balogh) who contributed as a piano session player also composed the last track of Dissection's album "Storm Of The Light's Bane".
