AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD

The motto of the AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD is Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet, which translates to "it is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia." This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.

Hi, I am Sjakkalle, (see the section at the bottom of this page for the explanation of the username) who lives in Bergen, Norway. I am 24 and an applied mathematician. In June 2005 I was made an administrator, but I resigned them in November 2006. (Lack of time in real life is the reason.)

[edit] My First Article and the VFD on it

I edited for some time anonymously before registering an account in March.

The first article I created was TCS Victory, the main carrier in Wing Commander III, Heart of the Tiger. After exactly 44 minutes it was tagged "This article has been listed for deletion". Ah nuts... That debate is at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/TCS Victory.

Nonetheless, the article did survive. Even though a majority did vote to delete, among all those votes saying that the article was "fancruft" were some merge votes. About a week later, the vfd notice was replaced with a far less distressing merge notice. And that notice disappeared too when it turned out that the category "Wing Commander spacecraft" had far too many articles to try and merge together. HA!

It took a long time before I got an article listed for deletion again, in fact it was TCS Victory again, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TCS Victory, this time kept with a great majority.

The second distinct article on AFD is another Wing Commander related article I created as an anon, Krant medium fighter. Currently it seems headed for either a keep or merge result.

Both articles now redirect to their respective games where the important info is already included. Probably just as well, nobody will try nominating them for deletion now.

[edit] Redirection

I have a certain obsession with creating redirects.

  1. When I create an article I often attach ten or more redirects to it. Look at all my beautiful redirects to punctuation (chess) [1] !
  2. When I search for an article and fail to find it using the first search word attempted? Redirect the first search word!
  3. A duplicate article listed on VfD with a semi-sensible title? Don't delete it, redirect it!

I feel that many of the problems related to duplicate articles would have been prevented with more redirects to articles. As a rough estimate, I would say that redirects should outnumber articles at least three to one, and perhaps even more.

[edit] Editing my contributions

Actually, I love it when someone starts editing articles that I have created. It is enjoyable to see that someone is so interested in what I write that they want to make contributions to it. Go ahead, edit away! (But do not vandalize.)

[edit] Interests

[edit] Chess

I am a somewhat active chess player, given here in algebraic notation is the favorite game I have played. It is from round five of the Bergen Summer Grand Prix 2005. I am playing White.

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Bb4

This is the Nimzo-Indian. My favorite opening.

4.e3 Ne4

Not so common, and violating the rule not to move the same piece twice in the opening.

5.Bd2

When I looked this up after the game, 5.Qc2 is perhaps the most common and at least one book recommended 5.Qg4.

5...Bxc3 6.Bxc3 Nxc3 7.bxc3

Black has inflicted me with doubled pawns but is a bit behind in space and his piece development turns out to be too slow.

7...0-0 8.Bd3

One peculiarity about such positions is to not develop the knight to f3 too early. White's pawn structure is strategically quite weak, and the compensating factor is commanding more space. Hence, the f-pawn should remain mobile to make a space grab on the kingside.

8...d6?!

I get the feeling that this move, part of a plan to bring the knight to f6 is too slow, and does nothing to address development of the c8-bishop and little to attack White's centre. A more enterprising move like 8...c5 is probably in order.

9.f4 Nd7 10.Nf3 Nf6 11.g4!?

Grabbing more kingside space. The idea is 11...Nxg4 12.Bxh7+ Kxh7 13.Qxg4 when the black king looks dangerously exposed. Black decides to avoid it, though it means allowing the knight to be chased back.

11...e5 12.g5 Nd7 13.Qc2

Bringing more forces to assault the kingside. Black shores it up, but I succeed in grabbing more space there.

13...g6 14.f5 exd4 15.cxd4 Qe7

Black tries to open up the centre to get some play. With my next move I surrender the right to castle, but Black's position is simply too cramped to get any meaningful play.

16.Kd2 c5 17.f6 Qe6 18.Rhg1

A defensive move to prevent the Queen from going on a counterattack at g4.

18...cxd4 19.exd4 Nb6 20.Rae1 Qd7 21.Re7

Grabbing the seventh rank. Even with the coming queen exchange, Black's position is very cramped and difficult, if not losing.

21...Qa4 22.Qxa4 Nxa4 23.Be4

With the kingside locked and White in control in the centre, I take aim at the b7-pawn.

23...Rb8 24.Rb1 Nb6 25.c5 dxc5 26.dxc5 Nd7 27.Rc1

Another defensive move, but perhaps the more offensive 28.c6 would have been even stronger. But now black proceeds to leave his knight in a terrible pin (chess) from which recovery is impossible

27...Rd8 28.Ke3 Nf8 29.Rb1

Again threatening b7. Black's next move (to shore it up) loses the knight and the position collapses immediately, but Black is set to lose a pawn anyway.

29...Nd7 30.Rd1

Now there is no defense against 31.Ne5 which wins at least the pinned knight.

30...a6 31.Ne5, Black resigns

[edit] Articles Created

Among the articles I have created on this subject are

None of the articles I have created on the English version have been featured, but I did create a "good" article on the Norwegian version, no:Sjakkåpning. That was really an abbreviated version of the English chess openings article, and there were a number of other users who put in considerable effort in proofreading.

[edit] Username "Sjakkalle"

Chess is the inspiration to my username. One of the (bogus) principles novice players in chess play by is "Always give a check when you can, it may be mate. Anyway it is better to lose and have given a check than to never have checked at all."

...So I made the username like this

Check everyone

Sjakk alle (in Norwegian)

Sjakkalle
