What is up with the swedish or german ö? If he is a danish king either write his name in the form of the sources mentioning him (mostly latin), or danishfy the name (Skjold) instead of using a swedishfication of the latin name.

- I believe the material about Nordic legends in general uses a naming format which is either Ancient Norse or Icelandic. I can't tell the two from each other, but you might wish to ask User:Berig who must be our leading expert on the Ancient Norse. Valentinian T / C 21:39, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

- Skjöldr is the standardized Old Norse spelling, as used in normalized editions of the Old Norse sources. One also sees o-ogonek used and that is perhaps "more standard" but we've used 'ö' on Wikipedia because it is more expedient. Haukur 00:23, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
