[edit] Plot summary
The episode begins with a scene inside FAC-51, the abandoned trapar mine where the Gekko took refuge in "Opposite View". Holland and Ken-Goh, inspecting the wing of the Gekko, find that with the mine depleted, the reflection film will regenerate too slowly—by Ken-Goh's estimates it will take over a year. Ken-Goh then suggests that they visit a reflection film maker in the area. Although the funds are dwindling, Hap reluctantly agrees to buy the film, and places the crew under level 5 combat alert.
Renton invites Eureka to come along with him and Ken-Goh, Matthieu, Hap, Stoner, and Moondoggie, but she declines, saying she has a headache. During the drive to the film maker, Renton confides in Hap that his relationship with Eureka has declined since the Coralian incident, and endures some light-hearted teasing from the other men.
Eureka's children, sent by Hilda, bring her out of bed to help with the laundry. While they are folding, Hilda talks with Eureka about Renton and the Nirvash. She tells Eureka that she's experiencing some form of jealousy. Inside the mine, Talho and Holland hear the sounds of an excavator working—the mine was not completely abandoned.
The men arrive at a run-down workshop, covered in dust. Ken-Goh calls for Edmund, but his intoxicated son Neil replies that his father is dead from the Despair Syndrome. Ken-Goh convinces Neil to make them some reflection film, and strong-arms the other men and Renton to help. They travel to a canyon called Aura de Punta, and set up a small party to attract sky fish. According to Neil, sky fish will congregate near a compac drive when the people nearby are having fun. The men (sans Renton) try to have fun, but mostly succeed in getting drunk.
Renton's thoughts of Eureka attract some very large sky fish, and he is knocked off his board when he hesitates in attacking a living creature. He hears Eureka calling his name in free-fall, and manages to recover and capture several large sky fish. After an all-nighter, Neil produces enough reflection film to make repairs to the Gekko.
In Dewey's office, most of his old unit is assembled in a meeting. He impales a copy of the Ageha Plan with a switchblade, declaring that after he is made the next head of state, he will complete what Adrock could not accomplish: the Second Summer of Love.
