Slats Gill

Amory T. "Slats" Gill (born May 1, 1901 in Salem, Oregon, United States - April 5, 1966) was a college baseball and men's basketball coach at Oregon State University, his alma mater. He coached the Oregon State Beavers men's basketball team from 1929-1964, and coached their baseball team from 1932-1937. Gill coached Oregon State to five Pacific Coast Conference titles, four Northern Division championships, and to a pair of Final Four appearances (1949 and 1963). His teams won eight consecutive Far West Classic titles. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, and OSU has their basketball arena, Gill Coliseum, named after him. He played basketball for Oregon State in college and was an All-American in 1924.
