A Slovak camp near the Hungarian border, March 1939. The aim of the Germans was to establish another military ally and one that would place a political wedge between the Slavic countries of Europe. However, the army was not ready for fight when the Hungarians invaded Eastern Slovakia on March 23, 1939. With permission from Axis Slovakia - Hitler's Slavic Wedge, 1938-1945 by Mark W. A.
