Snap dance
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The snap dance (or "Leanin' and Rockin' wit' it") or as it is known in its area of origin "doin it" (as it is never referred to as Snap in the Atlanta area and much less in its area of origin, the westside). It has roots to pop-locking. It has become popularized by artists and groups such as Dem Franchize Boyz, D4L, and even Lil Jon. However even some Atlanta based rappers such as T.I. have downed the dance deeming it as being "childish and for kids" and "you'll never see a real player in the club doin' that".
The basic idea is that dancers snap their fingers to the snap sound to musical accents while doing various basic dance moves in between. More skilled dancers employ more footwork to stylize it. Other variations of the dance are called The Poole Palace (aka Walk It Out).
