Snow Mountain (Colusa County, California)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Snow Mountain refers to two 7,000+ foot (2,134+ m) summits (Snow Mountain East and Snow Mountain West) located on the Colusa County and Lake County northeast of Clear Lake. The peaks are part of the Pacific Coast Ranges mountain system and it is the first tall peak in the California Coast Ranges north of San Francisco. On clear days, the peak could be seen from Mount Diablo, and from several peaks in the Mayacamas Mountains, like Mount Saint Helena, and Mount Konocti. Usually, the peaks are quite prominent from the California Central Valley, moreover the Sacramento Valley, such as from Interstate 5. Like its name states, the summits and nearby mountains over 1,200 m (3,937 feet) get snowfall in winter. On the higher elevations of Snow Mountain, winter snowfall is great enough to support a wintertime snow cap that lingers into June.
