[edit] SOAPware® - Electronic Health Record [1]
SOAPware "www.soapware.com"[2] is an Electronic Health Record designed for clinics. It is designed to evolve the practice and eventually replace paper charts. It is most commonly used in practices of 1-10 doctors. 80% of users are Family Physicians but 60 different specialty clinics are using it in thousands of clinics and in all 50 states. SOAPware, Inc. has been serving doctors since 1995. SOAPware, Inc. provides robust tools to link to billing systems, hospitals, labs, etc.
[edit] #REDIRECT E-Prescribing [3]
Sending prescriptions to pharmacies has never been safer or easier, thanks to the new E-Prescribing module and its interface to the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network. With this new module, automatically sending a prescription to a pharmacy across town is no more difficult than sending it to a printer across the room.
The E-Prescribing module and SureScripts provide access to the largest network of pharmacies in the United States, including major chains such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Eckerd, and Rite Aid, as well as hundreds of independent pharmacies all across the nation, with more coming online every day.
The E-Prescribing module goes far beyond simply submitting new prescriptions, though, by integrating prescription refill automation into SOAPware to make managing prescriptions easier than ever. Pharmacies can electronically submit refill requests, which will appear immediately as items in your SOAPware To Do List. Opening the To Do List item will allow you to quickly confirm the prescription details and either approve or deny the request. Likewise, any errors or problems with a prescription will also be sent to your To Do List so they can be resolved.
Even more important than the ease of prescribing is the safety that this new module offers. With recent estimates saying Adverse Drug Events (ADE’s) are one of the leading causes of death in the United States with as many as 180,000 ADE related deaths annually, it is vitally important to have accurate and legible prescriptions. No more handwriting reduces liability from illegible prescriptions, and since the new E-Prescribing module comes with Drug Interaction Checking, your system can check all of your prescriptions for Adverse Drug Events (ADEs), including possible allergic and cross reactions, before you prescribe the medication. With the number of possible interactions numbering in the millions and new drugs being released almost every day, it is nearly impossible to detect and prevent many ADE’s. The Drug Interaction portion of the E-Prescribe module helps ensure none of your patients are victim to adverse drug events, and helps to protect you from the possible liability that could entail from an Adverse Drug Reaction.
Also, through an interface with Epocrates "www.epocrates.com"[4], SOAPware E-Prescribing users can reference up-to-date drug information online with the click of a button. Epocrates is the single most successful medical application in history with over 400,000 registered users, and we’re proud to provide SOAPware users access to their excellent service! In order to use the new E-Prescribe module you must have a high speed internet connection on your network at all times and you must be subscribed to either SOAPware Standard or Priority Support program.
[edit] SOAPwareXchangeHL7® [5]
SOAPwareXchangeHL7 Module is an interface management system that:
- Routes your lab results directly from the lab into your SOAPware system, saving you time and reducing the possibility of medical errors.
- Automatically Places lab results on your "To Do" list.
- Supports the industry standard HL7 protocol It is likely that your reference lab is already online and ready for an integration. For a list of labs ready to integrate, visit Current HL7 Interfaces.
If your lab or connecting system is not on the list, we will be happy to discuss the development of an additional interface.
- Transfer Data Between Systems:
HL7 is the industry standard protocol for transferring medical data between systems. SOAPwareXchangeHL7 uses the HL7 standard to receive and process messages from other medical systems.SOAPwareXchangeHL7 will likely interface with your reference lab and integrate your lab results directly into SOAPware. If not, an interface can likely be developed to work with your system. You can also use SOAPwareXchangeHL7 to receive radiology and other text reports directly into SOAPware.
- Matching Algorithm:
SOAPwareXchangeHL7 uses the same matching algorithm as SOAPwareExchange (our other practice management interface) to ensure correspondence between patient information from the HL7 message and the SOAPware chart.
- Retain the Human Element:
If a patient cannot be safely matched to an existing chart, it will be queued for manual assignment. Use the interface with less worry about duplicate charts or misdirected results.
- Automatic Updates:
New reports in SOAPware are added to the appropriate physician's To Do list, so you will always know when there are new results requiring review.
- Supported HL7 Interfaces:
The HL7 specifications have great flexibility built in, and every system has a slightly different guideline implementation; because of this, each system will likely require a custom interface. Before any interfaces can be implemented at your site, you will need to contact the system vendor about the interface to ensure their system is ready to integrate. When available, vendor contact information is provided. You may use the contact information provided below or contact your regional vendor office.
