Social Ground Coffee Company B.V. is a chain of two speciality coffeeshops in the Netherlands, similar to Starbucks, called Social Ground Coffee Lounge. Over 60% of the service is in selling speciality coffee, along with a wide selection of organic and fair trade teas and other beverages.
Canadian entrepreneurs Peter Muciy and John Bowman founded the Social Ground Coffee Company B.V. in 2002 in Rotterdam. The Coffee Connection in the Central Station in Amersfoort was purchased in 2003 and was re-branded as a Social Ground Coffee Lounge in March 2004. During Fall 2004, the company purchased and re-branded the Noordstar Coffee location in Utrecht, which is inside the city's main public library. It also owns a third coffee lounge in Rotterdam, which was closed a in the early 2006's because it was located too far from the city center. October 2006 Peter Muciy and John Bowman sold the locations of Social Ground Coffee Company and left the Netherlands. This meaning the end of the brand.
