[edit] Re question on the extent of Chola Empire
The maps in all my articles are based on the scholarly books by Nilakanta Sastri, whose books have been in continuous print for the past 70 years. In particular I used the following for my reference:
- Nilakanta Sastri, K.A. (1935). The CōĻas, University of Madras, Madras (Reprinted 1984).
- Nilakanta Sastri, K.A. (1955). A History of South India, OUP, New Delhi (Reprinted 2002).
The subordinate position is defined by the agreement of the defeated king of Kedah to pay annual tribute to the Chola king.
