Somewhere Between (1988) |
Moment of Truth (1990) |
Somewhere Between is the major label debut by country artist Suzy Bogguss. Released on March 15, 1989, the album, exemplifying the New Traditionalist blending of traditional and contemporary styles, drew hugely positive reviews. Several of the cuts come straight from those who might be called the "Elders" of country music. The title cut was written by Merle Haggard, the great Hank Williams recorded "My Sweet Love Ain't Around," and "I Want To Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" was an old Patsy Montana tune. The record's highest charting track, however, was its second single, "Cross My Broken Heart," which became a top twenty hit on the country music charts. Following its success, she was named the Academy of Country Music's Top New Female Vocalist.
Since parting ways with the Capitol/Liberty label in 1999, much of Bogguss's earlier catalog, including this album, have been taken out of print.
