Son of the Morning Star
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Son of the Morning Star is a 1984 book, a 1991 television film based on the book, and a 2007 feature film also based on the book. It chronicles the Battle of the Little Bighorn, the personalities involved and the events leading up to and following it.
The book was written by Evan S. Connell, who prior to that time had written mostly fiction. Connell's book, which includes much of the history of the American West and the Indian Wars, was very successful with critics and made the best-seller lists.
A film version of the book was made for television, and aired in 1991. It starred Gary Cole as General George Armstrong Custer, Rosanna Arquette as Custer's wife Libby, and David Strathairn as Captain Frederick Benteen.
Rumors of a big screen version, to be directed by Oliver Stone, have circulated.
