Song Yoo-geun
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Song Yoo-geun (b. November 1997) at the age of 8 became Korea's youngest university student. In October 2005, he was accepted into Inha University. In May 2005, he passed the national exam for middle school; in August 2005, he passed the high school level exam.
"Yoo-geun first made headlines in March last year when he received a certificate for information-processing, normally given to professional engineers in their 20s or 30s. A KBS-TV program introduced his extraordinary talent in physics last November." [1]
Song Yoo-geun left a prodigy school he attended in 2003 because it wasn't providing him a sufficient academic challenge. After six months of independent study, Yoo-geun was able to solve pre-calculus problems.
Yoo-geun during his interview with Inha University, demonstrated that he has an understanding of the Schrodinger equation, a partial differential equation which is of central importance to quantum mechanics theory.
Yoo-geun was offered an education by the most prestigious universities in Korea, namely the Pohang University of Science and Technology and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Techonology however his parents decided that Yoo-geun would be best off by attending his one-on-one lessons at the Inha University.
