[edit] Gameplay
Each player has three bars: their life bar, spiritual energy bar, and stamina bar.
- Life Bar: Located at the top of the screen next to the player's character's portrait. Hits 0, you lose and are KOed.
- Spiritual Energy Bar: Located right beneath your health bar. Shows how much spiritual energy you have. Spiritual energy is used for high-level special moves. Has up to 3 levels. All highest powered moves such as Bankai moves use up all three levels while normal high-powered specials use up only 1 level. Is built up by fighting.
- Stamina Bar: Located at the bottom of the screen under your character's info. Shows how much stamina your character has. Stamina is used for doing Shunpo and possibly certain types of attack. Builds up naturally on its own at a fairly fast rate provided you aren't using any moves that require stamina.
The playing field consists of two 2D fields in a stage, with players being able to move between the two fields.
Special moves are done through two methods: either button and arrow input or through the special attack menu in the touch panel.
Each player has access to certain "cards" at the bottom of the screen that can change certain stats of both themselves or their enemies in battle. Players design what cards are accessible to them via a "deck builder". Each player will have two cards at any one point accessible to them. These cards are activated by simply touching them and their powers will be activated for a certain amount of time before disappearing and being replaced by a new card at the bottom. Each card has a certain number, located on the bottom of the card. These numbers indicate the strength and cost of the card. Each player starts with a certain amount of "stock", which is used up by activating cards. Each time a card is used, that player's stock is deducted by the cost of the card.

[edit] Trivia
- The game has a story for each character. Each one is adapted from the Soul Society arc (episodes 20-63).
- 50 Nintendo DS machines were released alongside Bleach DS. These came with artwork of the characters.
- Rukia uses her initial release as her Special Attack B, although she never uses it during the Soul Society arc. It is also abnormally powerful in comparison to the initial release attacks of other characters.
- The game's opening song, Ichirin no Hana, also happens to be the third opening to the Bleach anime.
