From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
South are a British rock band. The band consists of Joel Cadbury, Brett Shaw, and Jamie McDonald. Each member is a multi-instrumentalist and they share duties on guitars, bass, percussion, keyboards. Cadbury is responsible for the lead vocals.
South was formed in London in 1998 and was originally conceived as an electronic act. The band was mentored by ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown. South later worked under the tutelage of UNKLE's James Lavelle, who signed the band to his personal record label.
Since 2001, South has released three studio albums. Popular songs include "Paint The Silence" (featured on The OC and The O.C. Mix 1) and "Colours In Waves".
"A Place In Displacement", the first single from their third full album was released early in 2006, followed by the album "Adventures In The Underground Journey To The Stars", which came out on April 3 2006. A UK release followed on October 9, 2006. Due to the delay in releasing the album worldwide, the band have had time to record several new tracks, and mentioned on their MySpace blog that the next album is planned to be ready for release some time in 2007. Joel also revealed in a blog on their page that there is an upcoming album featuring remixes of songs from the With the Tides album. A preview of the remix of 'Same Old Story' was played, which was remixed by Nathan Asher.
