Spectacle lift

Spectacle lift recovery vehicles are based on commercial chasses (usually of 6.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight). The name spectacle lift is due to the fact that the wheel 'grids' resemble a pair of spectacles when in their raised position.
Spectacle lift recovery vehicles have been very popular with breakdown recovery operators for the last 15 years due to their versatility. Firstly, the spectacle lift is able to pick up vehicles which have been involved in minor accidents very quickly, causing as little disruption to motorists as possible. In addition, the operative is able to load a vehicle onto the 'spec' and have it ready to be transported within 10 minutes or so. Most spectacle lifts are hydraulically operated and able to lift in excess of 1900 kg—suitable for cars and light commercial vehicles. Spectacle lift vehicles are able to carry 5 passengers and there is more than adequate storage space for an operative's tools in the side mounted lockers—further enhancing versatility and improving the chances of getting a vehicle going again.
