[edit] Influence
The Springfield Isotopes were the influence for the new name of the Florida Marlins' AAA affiliate when they relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico from Calgary, Alberta. The team was named the Albuquerque Isotopes. The plot of Hungry Hungry Homer revolves around Homer Simpson's attempts to thwart a planned move by the team to Albuquerque.
